Coping Skills To Improve Your Mental Health

Coping skills are bound to come up in therapy. Counselors love to help client’s brainstorm ways they can manage their stress and anxiety. A coping skill can be anything that distracts you from your negative thoughts, feelings and emotions.

Coping skills might not be a long term solution to your problems, but they can provide you some temporary relief. Now there is such a thing as a bad coping skill. Think the basic bad habits people talk about: drinking to excess, smoking, attention seeking behaviors, overspending gambling, you get my drift. You want to make sure the coping skills you employ are HEALTHY!
